Measuring and Annotating

Draw, Measure, and Label Your Dental X-rays with Ease

Xrays.Dental includes built-in tools for measuring and annotating dental radiographs directly inside the Imaging Workspace. These features help dentists and staff mark, label, and analyze X-rays more accurately during diagnostics and treatment planning.

What is Measuring?

The Measure tool allows you to draw a straight line between two points on an image and calculate the real-world distance in millimeters (mm).

Common Uses:

  • Measuring root canal lengths

  • Checking gaps between teeth

  • Estimating bone loss

  • Planning implant placements

How to Use:

  1. Open a patient X-ray in the Imaging Workspace

  2. Click the Ruler icon from the right-side tool panel

  3. Click your start point and drag to your end point

  4. The system will automatically show the distance

📏 This measurement is based on calibrated image scale from your sensor setup.

What is Annotating?

The Annotation tools let you mark areas on an image for clarity, communication, or future reference.

Available Annotations:

  • Text Labels – Add notes, tooth numbers, or observations

  • Arrows – Point to decay, lesions, or fractures

  • Shapes – Circle or box specific regions of interest

How to Use:

  1. In the Imaging Workspace, select the Text or Draw tool from the right panel

  2. Click the image to place your annotation

  3. Edit, move, or delete annotations as needed

🖊️ Annotations help during referrals, team reviews, and patient consultations.

Additional Tools:

  • Undo / Redo – Fix mistakes instantly

  • Reset Image – Revert to the original state

  • Zoom/Pan – Focus on specific areas for precision annotations
