Linking X-rays to Records

How to Link Dental X-rays with Patient Profiles in Xrays.Dental

Xrays.Dental makes it simple to import, capture, and link X-ray images directly to a patient’s record—all in one place. Here's how the process works:

Step 1: Select the Patient

From the patient list, click on the patient for whom you want to link or capture X-rays. This will take you to a black imaging screen.

Step 2: Use the Top Bar Tools

At the top of the imaging screen, you’ll see three important fields:

  • Imaging Procedure Layout

  • Previous Image Dates

  • Available Sensors for Procedures

Step 3: Choose an Imaging Layout

Click on the Imaging Procedure Layout dropdown to select a pre-defined layout. Some popular options include:

  • FMX #18

  • Bitewing (2 images)

  • 2 Bitewing + 2 Periapical images

  • Choose the one that suits your procedure.

Step 4: Import X-rays from Your Device

Click Import to upload X-rays directly from your computer. Supported file formats include:

  • .JPG / .JPEG

  • .PNG

  • .TIFF

  • .DICOM (.dcm, .dap)

Step 5: Capture X-rays in Real Time

If you want to capture new X-rays using a dental sensor:

  1. Select the available sensor from the Available Sensors list.

  2. Click Capture to take live images.

  3. To add your clinic’s dental sensors, go to your profile and select “Add Dental Sensor.”

Step 6: Edit and Review X-rays

Once the images are captured or imported:

  • Use the Edit options on the image.

  • The right sidebar contains tools for adjustments, enhancements, and annotations.

This unified workflow helps dental clinics keep patient records organized, up-to-date, and ready for diagnosis—whether you’re importing old images or capturing new ones.
