What File Types Can I Upload?

 

Xrays.Dental supports:

• DICOM (.dcm) – Single or multi-frame files from 3D imaging systems like CBCT and panoramic X-rays.

• JPG / JPEG – Common format for intraoral X-rays and camera-captured images.

• PNG – For high-resolution screenshots, annotations, or exports from other systems.

 

How to Upload Images

 

Option 1: Drag & Drop

1. Log into your Xrays.Dental dashboard.

2. Navigate to the patient profile or click Add New Patient.

3. Click the Upload Image button.

4. Drag and drop DICOM or JPG/PNG files into the upload area.

 

Option 2: Use the Upload Button

1. Go to the desired patient profile.

2. Click on Upload → Select File.

3. Browse your computer for the DICOM or image file.

4. Click Open to start uploading.

 

After Uploading

• DICOM files are automatically decoded and previewed.

• You can tag images (e.g., bitewing, periapical, pano).

• JPG and PNG files can be enhanced with annotations, notes, and filters.

 

Bulk Upload Support

 

You can upload multiple files at once:

• Select multiple images using Ctrl/Command + Click.

• Files will automatically be organized under the selected patient profile.

 

Tips & Troubleshooting

• Make sure DICOM files are not inside a zipped folder. Extract them first.

• For large CBCT files, upload time may vary depending on internet speed.

• If a file doesn’t upload, check that it’s under the max file size limit (usually 500MB per file).

• Supported DICOM versions: PS 3.0–3.20.

Yes — all uploads are encrypted and stored on HIPAA-compliant cloud servers. You don’t need to worry about patient data privacy or loss.
